Major General Mirza Mirzaev, 52, deputy chief of logistics of the Russian National Guard, has been arrested in Moscow on bribery charges. According to investigators, Mirzaev demanded 140 million rubles ($1.4 million) from a supplier of prefabricated building modules and threatened to break a 480 million ruble contract if the money was not paid. The case against Mirzaev is believed to have been personally approved by President Putin and is seen as part of a broader crackdown within the Russian National Guard.
