Visit50,000 Expected in Washington for People's March Protesting Trump's Inauguration
Jan 18, 2025, 04:55 PM
Thousands of people are expected to converge on Washington, D.C., on Saturday for the People's March, a protest against President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration on Monday, January 20. The march, rebranded from the Women's March, is organized by women's groups, civil rights activists, LGBT communities, and migrants to oppose Trump's policies and the GOP's agenda. Approximately 50,000 people are expected to participate, a significantly smaller number compared to the 500,000 who protested during his first inauguration in 2017. Some demonstrators are wearing the pink hats that marked the earlier protests. Participants are gathering at multiple locations across the city and plan to march towards the Lincoln Memorial. The march occurs two days before Trump is set to become the 47th president of the United States.
