Sep 4, 2024, 02:00 PM
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has charged a 17-year-old suspect with attempted murder in the shooting of San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. The incident occurred during a botched robbery in Union Square, where the suspect allegedly used a semiautomatic pistol with personal and intentional discharge. In addition to attempted murder, the suspect faces charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and attempted second-degree robbery. The charges have been filed in juvenile court, and a decision is pending on whether the suspect will be tried as an adult. Pearsall is recovering at home from a gunshot wound to his chest. The suspect, a high school senior, expressed remorse through his attorney during his first court appearance before Judge Roger Chan and is being held on three felony counts.
