Visit47-Year-Old Iraq War Veteran Scott Hayes Charged After Shooting During Pro-Israel Rally in Massachusetts
Sep 13, 2024, 01:56 PM
Scott Hayes, a 47-year-old Iraq War veteran from Framingham, has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violation of a constitutional right causing injury after a shooting incident during a pro-Israel rally in Newton, Massachusetts. Hayes allegedly shot a man wearing a pro-Palestinian pin who tackled him during the protest. The altercation began when the man, described as a pro-Hamas supporter, ran across the street and attacked Hayes. Hayes' attorneys argue that the shooting was in self-defense. Hayes has been released on a $5,000 bond and is required to wear a GPS ankle bracelet, adhere to a curfew, and stay out of Newton until his case is resolved. He is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support Hayes' legal defense.
