Aug 15, 2024, 09:23 PM
A coalition of 24 Republican attorneys general has filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, urging the justices to uphold an Arizona law that mandates proof of citizenship for voting. The law, which is currently blocked for violating federal law, is supported by the Republican National Committee and other conservative groups. The GOP has filed an emergency appeal with Justice Elena Kagan, seeking a decision by next week. The Arizona Republican Party has also submitted an amicus brief in support of the law, known as HB 2492, which aims to enhance election integrity by ensuring that only citizens can vote in presidential elections.
