Visit20-Year-Old Wembanyama Scores 50 Points, Hits 8 Threes in Spurs' 139-130 Win Over Wizards
Nov 14, 2024, 03:05 AM
San Antonio Spurs' rookie Victor Wembanyama, at just 20 years old, scored a career-high 50 points in only 32 minutes, leading his team to a 139-130 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. Spurs fans chanted 'MVP' as Wembanyama became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to reach the 50-point mark, following Brandon Jennings, LeBron James, and Devin Booker. He achieved the feat in only his 12th NBA game, showcasing his unique skill set by making eight of 15 three-point attempts, becoming the tallest player ever to hit eight or more threes in a game. Wembanyama's scoring was consistent throughout the game, with 10 points in the first quarter, 14 in the second, 19 in the third, and seven in the fourth. He reached 50 points in just 26 minutes of play. It was the first 50-point game by a Spurs player since LaMarcus Aldridge scored 56 in 2019. Wembanyama has been on a scoring tear, with 34 and 24 points in his previous two games, respectively, making 19 three-pointers over the last three games. The Spurs improved to 6-6 overall and 5-2 at home with the win over the Wizards.
