Jul 28, 2024, 11:35 AM
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has reported that 199 of its employees have been killed in Gaza since the war began in October 2023. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed the tragic loss in a Saturday post, marking it as the largest loss of personnel killed in a conflict for the agency. Despite the significant casualties, nearly 1,100 UNRWA health staff continue to work in operational health centers and medical points across the Gaza Strip. The agency also continues to provide psychosocial support to families affected by the conflict.
