On December 28, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a Brightline train collided with a Delray Beach Fire Rescue truck in downtown Delray Beach, Florida. The incident occurred near East Atlantic Avenue and Southeast 1st Avenue when the fire truck, responding to an emergency call, went around the crossing arms after a freight train had passed, unaware that another train was approaching. The collision caused the fire truck to overturn and injured at least 15 people, including three firefighters and 12 train passengers. All injured parties were transported to local hospitals; the firefighters are in stable condition, and the passengers suffered minor injuries.
