More than 11,500 creatives, including Radiohead's Thom Yorke, actress Julianne Moore, novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, actor Kevin Bacon, musician Robert Smith, and Abba’s Björn Ulvaeus, have signed an open letter condemning the unlicensed use of creative works to develop artificial intelligence systems such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The statement, organized by Ed Newton-Rex, highlights the significant threat posed by AI data scraping to the livelihoods of artists, musicians, and authors. The signatories call for AI firms to cease using their work without permission, emphasizing the need to protect the future of creativity.
