A meteor illuminated the skies over Portugal and Spain on the night of May 18, 2024. The Portuguese Civil Defense agency confirmed that a meteorite fell in the town of Pinheir. Social media was flooded with videos of a giant blue object lighting up the sky, with residents and experts speculating about its nature. Publico reported that residents of northern Portugal spotted the bright blue meteor. The European Space Agency's fireball camera in Cáceres, Spain, captured footage of the meteor on Saturday night, and their Planetary Defence Office is currently analyzing its size and trajectory to determine if any material reached the surface.
