INEOS Ends Sir Alex Ferguson's £2.16M Ambassador Role at Manchester United Amid Cost-Cutting
Oct 15, 2024, 10:14 AM
As part of a continued cost-cutting initiative, INEOS, the new part-owners of Manchester United, have decided to end Sir Alex Ferguson's multi-million-pound annual ambassadorial contract. Sir Jim Ratcliffe informed Ferguson last week in a face-to-face meeting at Old Trafford that the club would no longer continue his payments. Ferguson, who has been a global ambassador for Manchester United since stepping down as manager in 2013, received £2.16 million per year in this role. He will step away from his ambassadorial duties at the end of the season but will remain a non-executive director at the club. The previous owners, the Glazers, had maintained his payments in recognition of his contributions to the club.
