A terrorist attack occurred on October 23, 2024, at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), also known as TUSAS, in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, Turkey. An initial explosion was reported at the facility, followed by heavy gunfire and further explosions. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the attack, labeling it a "terror attack" and stating that there were casualties, including deaths and injuries. The attack involved multiple assailants, reportedly two militants, one of whom was a suicide bomber and the other armed with an assault rifle. Footage and images from the scene depict heavily armed attackers, including at least one woman, inside the compound. The assailants reportedly arrived at the compound in a taxi, with a damaged yellow cab seen near the explosion site. There are unconfirmed reports that attackers may have taken hostages and that at least three people were killed. Security forces are engaged in ongoing clashes with the militants. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the attack.
