Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the MUDA land allotment scam. The decision follows allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 13 sites in Mysuru, brought forward by three activists. This move has sparked political tension, with the Karnataka government accusing the Governor of misusing his constitutional office. The prosecution sanction under section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been perceived as a significant development in the ongoing political scenario in the state. The Congress party, to which Siddaramaiah belongs, has expressed intentions to challenge the decision in court, while political figures from opposing parties have commented on the seriousness of the allegations.
