Micron to Receive $6.1 Billion in U.S. Grants for Chip Plants in NY, Idaho
Apr 18, 2024, 12:31 AM
Micron Technology, the largest U.S. maker of computer-memory chips, is set to receive $6.1 billion in grants from the U.S. Department of Commerce. These funds, part of the Chips Act, will support the construction of semiconductor fabrication plants in New York and Idaho. The announcement of this substantial federal support is expected next week, coinciding with President Biden's planned visit to the Syracuse, New York region on April 25. In addition to the grants, Micron will also receive loans, similar to other semiconductor giants like TSMC and Intel.
