US Blacklists 29 Chinese Companies Over Forced Labor Allegations, Effective Monday
Nov 25, 2024, 01:09 AM
The United States has blacklisted 29 Chinese companies over allegations of forced labor, particularly targeting entities in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This move, announced on Friday and effective from Monday, is part of a broader effort by the Biden administration to address what it perceives as unfair trade practices by China. The blacklist expansion is the largest since a 2022 ban, bringing the total number of blacklisted entities to over 100. Washington's measure also aims to curb forced labor practices and is seen as a significant step in the ongoing trade tensions between the US and China. Additionally, the Texas governor has ordered the state's retirement and investment funds to withdraw from China.
