Trump Border Czar Homan Warns Denver Mayor: "I'm Willing to Put Him in Jail" Over Deportation Resistance
Nov 26, 2024, 02:53 PM
President-elect Donald Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, has issued a stern warning to Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and other sanctuary city officials who may seek to obstruct federal immigration enforcement efforts. Homan stated that he will request Justice Department authority to charge officials with obstruction and harboring if they refuse to hand over illegal border crossers in their custody. In response to Mayor Johnston's declaration that he is willing to go to jail to protect migrants and resist mass deportations, Homan declared, "We agree on one thing: he's willing to go to jail; I'm willing to put him in jail." Homan emphasized that under Title 8, U.S. Code 1324, it is a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal illegal immigrants from federal authorities and that it's also a felony to impede a federal officer. He further warned, "Let me be clear: there is going to be a mass deportation because we just finished a mass immigration crisis on the border," and cautioned officials against impeding these efforts, stating, "Don't test us."
