Ukraine's Drones Strike Deep in Russia, Hitting Bryansk and Explosives Plant; Over 110 UAVs Launched
Oct 19, 2024, 09:41 PM
Ukraine conducted a large-scale drone assault overnight, targeting multiple regions deep within Russia and striking strategic military facilities. In Bryansk, Ukrainian drones attacked the "Kremniy El" microelectronics plant—which produces components for air defense systems like the Pantsir and Iskander ballistic missiles—for at least the fourth time. Russian air defense systems reportedly shot down 13 drones in Bryansk region, 2 in Rostov, and 1 in Belgorod. In the Oryol region, authorities reported that at least 11 drones were shot down amid heavy UAV attacks, with air sirens sounding and helicopters searching for drones. Lipetsk also faced drone strikes, leading to air sirens and reported panic in the city. In Nizhny Novgorod's Dzerzhinsk city, Ukrainian drones struck the Ya. M. Sverdlov explosives factory, a key facility located 360 km east of the Kremlin responsible for manufacturing bombs and missile warheads for the Russian military; at least seven drones exploded at the factory. Additionally, a drone was shot down in Moscow's Ramenskoye district. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that air defense systems repelled attacks over seven regions, including Tula, Ryazan, Ivanovo, Kursk, and Kaluga, with over 110 drones launched and several intercepted. The escalation of drone strikes signifies an intensifying effort by Ukraine to target critical military infrastructure within Russia.
