IDF Withdraws from Khiam, Lebanon, in 60-Day Ceasefire Deal with Hezbollah
Dec 12, 2024, 01:20 AM
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated their withdrawal from Khiam in southern Lebanon, marking the first phase of a 60-day ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah that took effect on November 27, 2024. This withdrawal is part of a ceasefire deal, with the IDF confirming their departure from the area. In coordination with the United States, Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL troops are now being deployed in Khiam, with the Lebanese army planning to deploy up to 10,000 soldiers in southern Lebanon. The IDF remains deployed in other areas of southern Lebanon, ready to address any threats. General Kurilla from CENTCOM visited Beirut to monitor the withdrawal, suggesting this could be a step towards a more stable ceasefire.
