EU Charges Microsoft with Antitrust Violations Over Teams Bundling with Office 365, Considers Fines
Jun 25, 2024, 09:51 AM
The European Union has charged Microsoft with antitrust violations over the bundling of its Teams video-conferencing app with Office 365 and Microsoft 365. The EU regulators claim that this bundling gave Teams an undue advantage in the market, according to preliminary findings reported by the Financial Times. This is the first antitrust charge against Microsoft in more than a decade. The EU is considering imposing fines on Microsoft for these violations. Microsoft has stated that it will work with regulators to find a solution, although recent moves by the company to unbundle Teams were deemed insufficient.
