Michael Terpin Sues High School Graduate, AT&T for $24M Crypto Theft, Seeks $45M in Damages
Oct 4, 2024, 11:19 PM
Cryptocurrency investor Michael Terpin has sued a recent high school graduate for allegedly stealing $24 million worth of his cryptocurrency through a SIM swap attack. The lawsuit claims that the graduate bypassed the two-factor authentication protecting Terpin's crypto wallet. Terpin is seeking a total of at least $45 million in damages. The legal battle began in 2020 and has seen AT&T accused of failing to protect user information. The Appeals Court has recently reopened the case against AT&T, with Terpin continuing to pursue compensation for the 2018 incident.
