Gabby Douglas Withdraws from U.S. Gymnastics Championships, Ending Paris 2024 Bid
May 29, 2024, 08:15 PM
Three-time Olympic champion Gabby Douglas has withdrawn from the U.S. Gymnastics Championships on Wednesday due to an ankle injury sustained during training. This withdrawal ends her bid for a third Olympic team and her hopes of competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Douglas, who is 28 years old and the first Black woman to win the Olympic all-around title, had been attempting a comeback after an eight-year layoff. Despite this setback, she still dreams of competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Her bid for the Paris Olympics was considered a long shot.
