VisitThailand Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage, First in Southeast Asia to Achieve Marriage Equality
Oct 4, 2024, 09:45 AM
Thailand has become Southeast Asia’s first country to legalize same-sex marriage, marking a significant step toward LGBTQ+ equality in the region. This development places Thailand among the 38 countries worldwide where same-sex marriage is legal, with 23 of these countries located in Europe. The move is expected to inspire other Asian countries, such as Japan, Cambodia, Vietnam, and India, where there is majority support for same-sex marriage but no legal recognition yet.
