Reform UK Surges to 18 Seats in Poll as Labour Leads with 450 and Conservatives at 60 Amid Controversy
Jun 28, 2024, 06:23 AM
A series of recent polls indicate a significant shift in the UK political landscape, with the Reform UK party, led by Nigel Farage, making substantial gains. According to an MRP poll conducted by Find Out Now and Electoral Calculus between June 14 and June 22, Reform UK is projected to win 18 seats, a notable increase from their previous standing. The poll also shows Labour leading with 450 seats, followed by the Liberal Democrats with 71 seats, the Conservatives with 60 seats, the Scottish National Party (SNP) with 24 seats, and the Greens and Plaid Cymru each with 4 seats. Reform UK has also surpassed the Conservatives in vote share, securing 18% compared to the Conservatives' 16%. Despite this surge, Reform UK has faced controversy following an undercover investigation by Channel 4 News, which revealed campaigners making racist and homophobic remarks. Farage has responded by stating that the individuals involved will no longer work with the party, and he has suggested that the incident may have been a setup involving an actor.
