FEMA Supervisor Marn'i Washington Fired After Instructing Workers to 'Avoid Homes Advertising Trump' Post-Hurricane Milton
Nov 9, 2024, 07:24 PM
In the aftermath of Category 3 Hurricane Milton in Florida, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor instructed relief workers to avoid providing assistance to homes displaying signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump. Internal messages obtained by The Daily Wire revealed that the supervisor, identified as Marn'i Washington, directed workers via a Teams chat to "avoid homes advertising Trump" as they surveyed hurricane damage in areas like Lake Placid. This directive led to at least 20 homes being bypassed for potential FEMA assistance. Upon discovery, FEMA confirmed the incident, calling the actions "reprehensible," and stated that the supervisor has been relieved of duties. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced that the case has been referred to a special counsel for further investigation. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered an investigation into the matter, labeling the discrimination as "unconscionable."
