House Committee Calls for DOJ, IOC Investigations into Chinese Doping Scandal at Tokyo 2020
May 22, 2024, 11:25 PM
A U.S. House of Representatives committee has called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to launch a formal inquiry into a Chinese doping scandal. The committee, led by Chairman Rep. John Moolenaar and RM Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, is urging an investigation into reports that nearly two dozen Chinese swimmers tested positive for a banned heart medication before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but were allowed to compete after being cleared by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
