FBI: ISIS Terrorist Jabbar Used Meta Glasses to Plan New Orleans Attack Killing 14
Jan 5, 2025, 07:09 PM
FBI officials have revealed that the man responsible for the New Year's Day truck attack in New Orleans that killed 14 people, identified as U.S. Army veteran and ISIS terrorist Shamsud-Din Jabbar, had visited the city twice before the attack and recorded video of the French Quarter using Meta smart glasses. The glasses, which allow hands-free recording and potential livestreaming, were used by Jabbar to survey Bourbon Street while riding a bicycle during his visits in October and November when he rented a home in the city. Surveillance footage also shows him placing coolers containing improvised explosive devices throughout the area. Although he wore the smart glasses during the attack, they were not recording at that time. Jabbar, who carried out the deadly attack on Bourbon Street, had also traveled to Egypt in 2023 for about a month, according to officials.
