House Democrats Force Vote on Release of Gaetz Ethics Report Amid Allegations
Dec 5, 2024, 02:50 PM
Democratic Representatives Sean Casten and Steve Cohen have introduced privileged resolutions to force a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on whether to release the House Ethics Committee's report on former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). The investigation, which has been ongoing for years, focuses on allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use against Gaetz. The push for transparency comes after Gaetz resigned from Congress and withdrew his name from consideration for U.S. Attorney General, actions which some believe were taken to avoid the release of the report. The House Ethics Committee met to discuss the matter, but has not yet made a decision on releasing the report, stating only that they are 'continuing to discuss the matter.'
