Former Karnataka CM Yediyurappa Appears Before CID on June 17 in POCSO Case Involving Minor Girl
Jun 17, 2024, 04:07 AM
Former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on June 17 for questioning in connection with a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case involving a minor girl. Yediyurappa, a senior BJP leader, had returned to Bengaluru after the High Court issued a stay on his non-bailable arrest warrant. He had informed that he would attend the trial and comply with the investigation. Yediyurappa had traveled to Delhi as part of a scheduled program on June 15. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured a fair probe into the allegations. The questioning began at 11 AM and lasted for 3.5 hours. Yediyurappa's son, BY Vijayendra, also reacted to the allegations. The case has sparked political reactions, with former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti criticizing the court's decision to grant a stay on the arrest warrant, calling it 'selective justice'.
