Scarlett Johansson Accuses OpenAI of Using Her Voice Without Consent in GPT-4o's 'Sky'
May 21, 2024, 03:44 AM
Scarlett Johansson has accused OpenAI of using a voice eerily similar to hers for its ChatGPT system without her consent. Johansson stated that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman approached her last September to lend her voice to the AI project, but she declined. Despite her refusal, OpenAI went ahead and created a synthetic voice, named 'Sky,' that closely mimicked her distinctive tones, leading Johansson to express shock, anger, and disbelief. Following the release of the voice in the GPT-4o update on May 13, Johansson was forced to hire legal counsel to demand its removal. OpenAI has paused the use of the voice after receiving legal letters from Johansson's team.
