EU Pledges €10 Billion for Storm Boris Flood Recovery

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a 10-billion-euro ($11 billion) funding package to support central European countries grappling with the worst flooding in decades. The announcement was made on Thursday during a meeting in Wroclaw. The funds aim to assist member nations in recovering from the heartbreaking devastation caused by Storm Boris, which has resulted in significant damage to infrastructure and housing, and has claimed 24 lives in the region. Von der Leyen promised to mobilize up to the full amount to aid recovery efforts.
