Yemen's Houthis Claim 12th U.S. MQ-9 Drone Downed Over Al-Jawf Province
Nov 8, 2024, 11:22 AM
Yemen's Houthi rebels, also known as the Ansarullah forces, have claimed responsibility for shooting down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over Al-Jawf province in northern Yemen. The drone was reportedly conducting hostile missions in the airspace over Al-Yatmah when it was targeted at dawn on Friday. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea announced that they successfully downed the drone with a locally-made surface-to-air missile. Footage released by the Yemeni forces shows the moment the drone was hit. This incident marks the reported downing of the 12th American MQ-9 Reaper UAV by the Houthis over Yemen. The MQ-9 Reaper drone is valued at approximately $32 million. The U.S. military is reportedly investigating the incident.
