U.S. and Israel Launch 30 Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen
Jan 10, 2025, 11:57 AM
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it conducted precision airstrikes against Houthi underground advanced conventional weapons (ACW) storage facilities in Yemen on January 8, 2025. The strikes targeted facilities in Houthi-controlled territories, including Sana'a, Amran, and Hodeidah provinces. According to CENTCOM, the Houthis used these facilities to launch attacks against U.S. warships and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. On January 10, further airstrikes were reported in Yemen. Houthi media reported that U.S., British, and Israeli forces conducted approximately 30 airstrikes, including 12 strikes on the Harf Sufyan District in Amran Governorate. Targets included underground missile and drone facilities, as well as the Hudaydah and Ras Issa ports. Airstrikes were also reported near Al-Sabeen Square in Sana'a during demonstrations in support of Gaza. Israeli media confirmed Israel's participation in the strikes, marking it as the first joint operation between Israel and the U.S.-U.K. coalition against the Houthis.
