17-Year-Old Arrested After Two Killed, Six Injured in Orlando Halloween Shootings

A mass shooting during Halloween celebrations in downtown Orlando early Friday morning left two people dead and six wounded, according to Orlando police. The shootings occurred around 1 a.m. at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue, as thousands of people gathered in the entertainment district. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene after being tackled by police officers who witnessed the shootings. Police say the teen opened fire in two locations, resulting in eight people being shot. He faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and may be charged as an adult. Police Chief Eric Smith stated that the suspect 'walked into the street and did what he did.' The investigation is ongoing.
