VisitMossad Planted PETN Explosives in Encrypted Hezbollah Pagers, Detonated Remotely
Sep 17, 2024, 06:28 PM
Reports indicate that Mossad, Israel's national intelligence agency, orchestrated an operation to plant explosives in encrypted pagers used by Hezbollah. According to Sky News Arabic, Mossad inserted a quantity of highly explosive PETN material into the batteries of these communication devices. The explosives were detonated by remotely increasing the temperature of the batteries. The operation involved embedding operatives in the manufacturing process of the pagers, allowing the devices to be sold to Hezbollah brigades within Lebanon and Syria. The pagers, introduced around February, contained 20 grams of PETN each, a compound sensitive to heat and friction.
