Iran-Backed Houthis Launch Third Hypersonic Missile and Drone Attack on Israel in a Week
Dec 24, 2024, 07:25 AM
The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen launched a series of ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting military sites in Israel. The attacks included the use of a hypersonic ballistic missile named 'Palestine 2' aimed at a military target in Jaffa, as well as drone strikes on military locations in Ashkelon and Jaffa using Yafa-class drones. These operations were part of a broader campaign by the Houthis, who declared they would continue their military actions against Israel until the aggression against Gaza ceases. The Israeli Defense Forces reported intercepting a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, preventing it from entering Israeli airspace. However, the interception led to air raid sirens sounding across central and southern Israel, prompting civilians to rush to shelters. During one of these incidents, a 60-year-old woman in Tel Aviv was seriously injured while seeking shelter, and more than 25 others sustained injuries in the ensuing stampede. This marks the third such attack by the Houthis on Israel within a week.
