Israel Destroys Active Nuclear Weapons Facility 'Taleghan 2' in Iran's Parchin Complex
Nov 15, 2024, 12:48 PM
Israel conducted an attack on October 25 that destroyed an active top-secret nuclear weapons research facility in Iran's Parchin military complex, located about 20 miles southeast of Tehran. The facility, known as Taleghan 2, was previously reported to be inactive but was actually used for clandestine nuclear weapons research by Iran. According to U.S. and Israeli officials cited by news sources, the strike significantly damaged Iran's efforts over the past year to resume nuclear weapons development. The attack targeted sophisticated equipment used to design the plastic explosives that surround uranium in a nuclear device and are needed to detonate it. Despite U.S. advisement against striking Iranian nuclear facilities, Israel proceeded with the operation. Satellite imagery confirmed the facility's complete destruction.
