Archaeologists Uncover Almost 2,000-Year-Old Christian Church in Armenia, History's First Christian Country
Oct 14, 2024, 02:28 PM
Archaeologists have uncovered one of the world's oldest Christian churches in Armenia. The discovery was made by a team from the University of Münster and Armenia's National Academy of Sciences at the Artaxata site in the Ararat Plain. The church is believed to date back to around 350 AD, almost 2,000 years ago, making it the oldest structure of its kind in Armenia and one of the oldest in the world. Armenia, known as history's first Christian country, now holds this significant find that sheds light on early Christian architecture and the spread of Christianity in the region.
