Pakistan to Require District-Issued NOC for Afghan Nationals in Islamabad by Dec 31
Nov 27, 2024, 11:24 AM
Pakistan's federal government has announced that Afghan nationals residing in Islamabad will require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the district administration to remain in the city beyond December 31, 2024. This decision was confirmed by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who emphasized that no Afghan citizen without the required NOC would be allowed to live in Islamabad after this date. The measure aims to regulate the residency of Afghan nationals in the capital city, with authorities highlighting concerns over illegal residency and security risks. Islamabad's police chief stated that the city, home to approximately 2.5 million residents, will not tolerate illegal Afghan residents engaging in activities such as terrorism.
