Fired Disney Employee Michael Scheuer Accused of Hacking Menus to Alter Peanut Allergy Info
Oct 31, 2024, 01:00 AM
A former Disney World employee, Michael Scheuer, has been accused of hacking into the company's menu-creation software after being fired. According to a federal complaint, Scheuer allegedly altered the allergen information on restaurant menus, falsely indicating that certain food items did not contain peanuts. The changes could have posed serious health risks to guests with peanut allergies. Additionally, Scheuer is reported to have changed menu fonts to Wingdings and added profanity. The FBI investigated the cyberattack and executed a search warrant on Scheuer's home. He is also accused of stalking a former co-worker. Scheuer has also been charged with cyber vandalism.
