Perplexity AI, Challenging Google, Hits $1B Valuation, Raises $63M

Perplexity AI, a consumer search engine startup founded in 2022 and co-founded by Aravind Srinivas, has rapidly grown to 10 million monthly active users and is now valued at over $1 billion. The company, which aims to challenge Google, has raised approximately $63 million in a funding round led by Daniel Gross, significantly increasing its valuation from $520 million in January 2024. Perplexity AI is also launching a new enterprise version priced at $40 per month. Additionally, the startup is in the process of raising over $250 million at a valuation between $2.5 to $3 billion.
