Labour Secures Largest Lead Since Liz Truss Era in YouGov Times Poll
May 9, 2024, 09:47 AM
Recent polls indicate a significant shift in UK public opinion, with the Labour Party achieving a 30-point lead over the Conservatives, the largest margin since the tenure of former Prime Minister Liz Truss. This surge in support is reflected in multiple polls conducted between May 3 and May 8, 2024. Notably, a YouGov poll for The Times, conducted on May 7-8, shows Labour at 48%, Conservatives at 18%, and other parties trailing behind. This marks a significant change from previous polls by DeltapollUK and others, highlighting potential shifts in voter sentiment ahead of upcoming elections. Additionally, two-thirds of voters now expect a Labour majority, while only 14% foresee a hung Parliament, and a mere 5% anticipate a Conservative majority.
