US Re-establishes $320M Gaza Aid Pier After $22M Repairs, UK Covers Part
Jun 7, 2024, 01:22 PM
The United States has re-established a temporary floating pier off the coast of Gaza after it was damaged by a storm shortly after becoming operational. The pier, which cost between $230 million and $320 million to build, required an additional $22 million for repairs. The pier aims to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, though concerns have been raised about the high costs, including $20,730 per pound of food delivered, and efficiency of the project. The UK is covering part of the cost.
