CDC Recommends Testing Farm Workers for Bird Flu After Nov. 7 Study Shows 7 Percent Infected
Nov 11, 2024, 02:47 PM
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on November 7 that all farm workers exposed to animals with bird flu should be tested for the virus even if they have not experienced symptoms. This decision follows a CDC study showing that bird flu exposure among dairy workers is more widespread than previously thought. Blood tests revealed that 7 percent of workers on farms with infected cows have antibodies against the disease. Health officials are concerned about the uptick in bird flu cases and recommend increased testing and preventative measures for farmworkers to prevent virus spread and mutation.
