China Smartphone Shipments Surge 25.5% in April, Apple iPhone Up 52%, Official Data Show

Shipments of smartphones within China rose by 25.5% year-on-year to 22.7 million handsets in April, according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). Chinese domestic brands accounted for 20.58 million units, representing 85% of the total shipments. Foreign brands shipped 3.49 million units, with Apple dominating this segment. Apple's iPhone shipments in China surged by 52% year-on-year in April, official data show, bolstered by price cuts and deals extending into the June 18 shopping festival. Despite facing competition from Huawei in the premium market segment, Apple's market share in China is showing signs of recovery.
