OpenAI Appoints Former NSA Chief Paul Nakasone to Board and Safety Committee
Jun 14, 2024, 02:36 AM
OpenAI has appointed retired U.S. Army General Paul M. Nakasone, former head of the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. Cyber Command, to its board of directors. Nakasone, who led the NSA from 2018 to 2023 under then-President Trump, will also join OpenAI's Safety and Security Committee. His extensive experience in cybersecurity is expected to enhance the company's efforts to protect its technology from increasingly sophisticated threats. The appointment comes as part of a broader reshuffling within OpenAI, following CEO Sam Altman's temporary ousting in November. Nakasone retired from the NSA on February 1, 2024.
