U.S. Sanctions Four Entities, Including Shaheen-Series Developer, Under Executive Order 13382 for Pakistan's Missile Program
Dec 18, 2024, 07:31 PM
The United States has imposed new sanctions on four entities involved in Pakistan's ballistic missile program, citing the ongoing proliferation threat posed by Pakistan's long-range missile development. The sanctioned entities include the National Development Complex (NDC), responsible for the development of Pakistan's ballistic missiles including the Shaheen-series, and three companies based in Karachi: Affiliates International, Akhtar and Sons Private Limited, and Rockside Enterprise. These sanctions, enacted under Executive Order 13382, target proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems. The U.S. State Department has stated that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to counter proliferation and associated procurement activities. In response, Pakistan has criticized the sanctions as biased and politically motivated, asserting that its strategic program is essential for regional stability and is a trust bestowed by its 240 million citizens.
