Dec 11, 2024, 01:11 PM
A fast-moving wildfire known as the Franklin Fire is raging in Malibu, California, destroying at least seven homes and forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents. The blaze, which started on Tuesday and has spread over 3,893 acres, is being battled by more than 1,500 firefighters from multiple agencies. Authorities have issued evacuation orders and warnings affecting approximately 20,000 people, including celebrities who have been forced to flee their homes. The fire remains 0% contained, though firefighters have managed to gain 7% containment as of Wednesday afternoon. High winds are fanning the flames, and arson is being investigated as a possible cause. Red flag warnings are in effect as the fire threatens populated areas. Pepperdine University students, numbering around 3,000, were forced to shelter in place as the fire approaches the campus. The Pacific Coast Highway has been closed, and power outages have been reported.
