H5N1 Bird Flu Infections Rise to 675 in California, 891 Nationwide; 65 Human Cases Reported

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed a rise in H5N1 bird flu infections among dairy herds, with California reporting 675 infected herds. This figure contributes to a national total of 891 infected herds across 16 states. The number of confirmed cases has increased significantly in recent days, with reports indicating that California's dairy herds account for approximately two-thirds of the national total. Additionally, there have been 65 human cases of H5N1 reported in the U.S. this year, with 39 individuals exposed to infected dairy cattle and 23 exposed to bird operations.
