Kerala Cricket Coach Accused of Years-Long Sexual Abuse, Booked Under POCSO Act
Jul 12, 2024, 03:42 AM
A disturbing case of sexual abuse has emerged from the Kerala Cricket Association, where a former coach, identified as Manu, has been accused of grooming and sexually abusing children for years. The abuse came to light when a 17-year-old player, returning after three years, found Manu still employed despite being booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Outraged, she approached the Child Welfare Committee, which led to the exposure of the prolonged abuse. Parents of minor survivors revealed that Manu manipulated children into believing that sexual cooperation with him would lead to success in cricket. Children as young as 10 and 12 year olds were among the victims. The case has sparked outrage and calls for stricter enforcement of child protection laws in sports.
