Bengaluru Cyber Police Investigate Viral AI-Generated Nude Images of School Girls, Probe Underway
May 27, 2024, 10:44 AM
Bengaluru cyber police have registered a case after AI-generated nude images of a class 9 girl were shared on social media by anonymous persons and went viral on social media. The girl's parents suspect that the perpetrators extracted images of her face from her Instagram page before creating the AI-generated nudes and posting them on a class group chat using a fake ID. A top private school in Bengaluru has promised an internal investigation after AI-generated images of at least two girl students emerged online. Parents of one of the students from Class IX have lodged a formal complaint with the cyber police. A probe is currently underway. This incident highlights the growing issue of online child sexual abuse, with a recent study from the University of Edinburgh revealing that over 300 million children are victimized by online sexual abuse annually.
